Artist Jean-Francois Prost will be holding the next free workshops at SPACE for interested participants as part of his Adaptive Actions project on Friday 22 and Saturday 23 February from 1-6pm. The Adaptive Actions project challenges organized space as well as the movements it imposes and is based on a call for collaboration open to all. With a developing website and publication planned later in the year these workshops provide an opportunity for artists and individuals involved in urban and architectural practices to exchange ideas, create work and collaborate. Adaptive Actions explores alterations in the workplace, the home and public spaces in general. Identifying the variety of these personal and found alterations in the city as different forms of adaptation creates a vocabulary for the expression of the collective imagination through the existing urban structures therein. Can these simple actions, images and ideas such as the hybridisation of conventional and unusual urban realities infiltrate our collective imagination to promote feelings of identity and a sense of cultural belonging? Adaptive Actions currently exists online at www.adaptiveactions.net and www.allaboard2012.blogspot.com Next Adaptive Actions Workshops Friday 22nd Feb 1pm - 6pm - Open House: for submissions of Adaptive actions (completed or projected), discussion and exchange of ideas + documentation, prints, salon, food, drinks..... Spring 2008 launch and presentation of Adaptive actions publication: including commissioned text and a compilation of adaptive actions. Open to all. All events are held at SPACE and are free.
