Alexander Ugay: Central Asian Project
In 2007 SPACE hosted 3 Central Asian artists as part of the Central Asian Project, an exhibition and series of residencies produced in collaboration with Cornerhouse in Manchester and AsiaArt+ in Almaty, Kazakhstan.

The artists Vyacheslav Akhunov, Natalya Dyu and Almagul Menlibayeva all spent time in the UK making new work supported by SPACE and Cornerhouse. The Central Asian Project was exhibited at SPACE and Cornerhouse simultaneously in Feb-April 2007 and is currently touring Central Asia.

As part of the project SPACE hosted the Kazakhstan based artist Alexander Ugay for 3 months in 2006 in a partnership with the Asia Art Foundation and funder by Arts Council England.
