Godfried Donkor: I Love London Barking Learning Centre Sat 25th July - Sat 8th August 'I Love London' is the culmination of a series of workshops exploring multimedia art practice and what it means to live in and love London by students from Barking Abbey and Eastbrook secondary schools. Led by artist Godfried Donkor and based on his original SPACE commission 'Story of a London Township' it forms the first of three commissions for the Artists Programme, which aims to introduce young people from Barking and Dagenham to the creative and cultural industries. The Artists Programme is funded by London Thames Gateway Development Corporation, University of the Arts London's Widening Participation Department and Eastbrook and Barking Abbey secondary schools. The exhibition will be on show at The Barking Learning Centre from Sat 25th July - Sat 8th August. Previous to this, it was on show at The Malthouse - a newly developed studio building which is managed by SPACE and is part of the first phase in the development of the Creative Industries Quarter in Barking, led by London Thames Gateway Development Corporation. Directions:The Malthouse is a 10 minute walk from Barking tube station. Turn right out of the station and head down through the town, cross the green and take a left down Abbey Road passing the Galleon cafe on your right. |
