Bridget Riley studios

Britannia Works and Bridget Riley Open Studios

An open studio evening accompanied by SPACE artists and supporters at the Bridget Riley and Britannia Works studio buildings, located in the artist enclave of Fish Island, Hackney Wick.

SPACE has had a studio presence in the area since 1983. Directly adjacent, both buildings are converted Victorian industrial buildings with a rich industrial history which now support artists at the point of production: the artists studio.

This exclusive evening offered the opportunity for valued patrons, friends and audiences of SPACE to explore a variety of artistic practices within the studio context and engage with the resident artists of Bridget Riley and Britannia Works.

A memorable evening of food, drink and discussion within the gallery setting and retrospective exhibition of art activists SKART. The artists and selected guests will be present to discuss SKART’s work, creative collaborations and socially engaged practices.

Belgrade based Art Activist group Škart present their first UK retrospective exhibition documenting their extensive work over the past 20 years. Known internationally for their socially engaged artworks, Škart have employed an eclectic range of media including graphic design, poetry, video, embroidery and book making, consistently using art as a vehicle for social activism.

A memorable evening of eclectic food and drink in a gallery setting, curated by artist Godfried Donkor. The artist and selected guests will be present to discuss in-depth Donkors' new large scale work Story of a London Township 

Godfried Donkor's practice has seen his work exhibited around the world. Past projects include the group exhibitions 'Around the World in 80 Days' at the ICA, London (2006), 'Pin Up' at the Tate Modern, London (2004) and 'Authentic/Excentric' at the Venice Biennale, Italy (2001). His recent exhibition in Nottingham's New Art Exchange 'Lace & Slavery' perpetuated Godfried's work examining the histories of African and Imperial conflict and transformation.
