How soon will I get a studio?

Artists must be proactive in checking the website and contacting our reception for viewing details. SPACE does not at present have the resources to contact individual registered artists when there is a vacant studio. It is therefore impossible to make a prediction of how long it takes to get a studio and depends on individual artists understanding the situation and being realistic about their chances against the many artists who are in the same position. Even though allocation of a studio is to the person registered longest, an artist who is proactively looking for studios will find one sooner than one who is not and it is always worth persevering. Please bear in mind that SPACE has been operating since 1968 and have many artists registered since then and their original registration date will apply as it does to everyone who registers. As a general rule it is artists registered in the last year who are actively looking so the deciding factor between you and someone else may only be a few weeks and it is important not to take it personally if a studio is not allocated to you. If you are prepared to take a share or a sub-let you may find a studio more quickly than waiting for a studio exactly suited to you. The tenant decides who they wish to sub-let to or share their studio with, so length of time registered does not apply. NB - taking a sub-let or share does not then give you priority for vacant studios where the length of time registered applies. |
