Since 2003 SPACE has hosted the Canada Council for the Arts International Residency programme in London. The programme was created to help Canadian artists develop, promote and distribute their work internationally. The residency provides the expenses, travel, production costs and residency fees for two Canadian artists a year to live and work in London for six months.
In 2007 SPACE hosted 3 Central Asian artists as part of the Central Asian Project, an exhibition and series of residencies produced in collaboration with Cornerhouse in Manchester and AsiaArt+ in Almaty, Kazakhstan.
Artist Jean-François Prost was the recent Canadian artist in residence. During his residency he developed the ongoing project Adaptive Actions with an open call for collaborative inclusion in a website and publication.
