People Power: Where art and technology meet

People Power is an innovative school centred art and technology programme.

The programme:

− Gives pupils a hands-on opportunity to harness and create technological solutions for themselves, their schools and their communities

− Uses the creative and technological skills of carefully selected artists and partners to engage pupils with science, technology and sustainability

− Encourages schools to develop policy and curriculum in response to the environment, science and technology

People Power is designed for secondary schools and those in transition from primary to secondary school.

People Power grew out of the highly successful Active Energy project in 2010. At the end of Active Energy, the participants had built a wind powered, digital artwork for display in their community.

With generous funding from our sponsor Bloomberg, as part of the Bloomberg ON programme, in 2012 and 2013 we will be running People Power at the White Building. Due to open in early Summer 2012, this will be our new ‘centre for art, technology and sustainability, in Hackney Wick, by the Olympic Park.
