who we are
SPACE was founded in 1968 as a pioneer in supporting artists and London's creativity.
SPACE currently has a staff of of seventeen, based between the HQ at 129 - 131 Mare Street, Hackney, and The White Building, Hackney Wick.
Most of our activity is co-ordinated from the Hackney HQ, including management of studio buildings and tenants, exhibition programme and associated events, the creative workshop schedule, and hires.
We also operate some activity out of The White Building, Hackney Wick. The White Building is home to five artist studios and also a base for our residency artists working under the Permacultures strand, which dedicated to exploring the interesection of art, design and technology.
Free public talks and events are a regular feature at the White Building. The White Building website will be launched very soon, but in the mean time be sure to keep up to date with White Building events and activities here and by following @White_Building.
