Karsten Schubert

Karsten opened his first gallery in 1987 and has since worked with numerous leading artists. Amongst those he has shown and worked on projects with are Dan Flavin, Anya Gallaccio, Michael Landy, Ed Ruscha and Rachel Whiteread. He now works predominantly as primary agent and dealer for Bridget Riley and Alison Wilding, but also acts for artists on a one-off project basis. Aside from art dealing he is involved in book publishing (Ridinghouse, founded in 1996). His written works include The Curator’s Egg; a comprehensive book on the history of the museum, as well as Dear Images: Art, Copyright and Culture (with Daniel McClean). Karsten has spoken extensively and internationally on the subject of Art and Copyright and Museums. He has also chaired numerous symposiums on these subjects. Over the years he has been actively engaged in various fundraising projects, including Chisenhale Gallery, Tate, British Museum and most recently, the London Library.
