School visits to artist studios

SPACE has over 600 artists in studios in Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Barking, Camden, Vauxhall, and Dean Street in the West end of London.

We organise visits for young people to participating artists’ studios. We can tailor these visits according to the curriculum or around specific topics through discussion with schools and groups. We know that young people and teachers find these visits incredibly inspiring and informative. As a visual arts organisation we consider that creative learning spreads across all disciplines and is not confined to the art room. Themes can incorporate design, technology, environment, language and discourse, materials, conceptual approaches and creative solutions, as well as visual arts practice. These sites of production provide rare opportunities for young people to experience first hand the creative industries at work and talk to the people who are directly involved.

We can also provide artist-led workshops at SPACE led by professional, practicing artists.
