Hackney Students Light Up The White Building with their Solar Swarm Light Installation     

 

Broadgate Stories 2

A group of Hackney young people aged 16-18 yrs are creating audio content and learning the technical secrets of making an innovative mobile app.     

 

People Power #1: Seed to Speed

Artist and engineer Brendan Walker worked with Year 9 pupils to create a flotilla of steam-powered Pop Pop boats, fabricated from recycled tin cans. Boats were bio-fuelled with oil pressed from sunflower seeds, grown by the boys in a hydroponics tent. Boats were tested at the Victoria Park Steamboat Club - home of the Pop Pop world speed record of 43.84mph achieved by Chatterbox III in 1926.     

 

Broadgate Stories 1

As part of a bespoke project called Broadgate Stories, Hackney media students, working in SPACE MediaLab, were given training to provide them with digital & creative sector entry-level skills and inspiration. The aim is to make a real difference by helping young people into the jobs of tomorrow.

People Power: Where art and technology meet

People Power is an innovative school centred art and technology programme.     

 

CLAS: Creative Learning in Artist's Studios

CLAS (Creative Learning in Artists’ Studios) is a participatory art project connecting the unique learning resource of studios directly to schools.     

 

Artists' Studio Visits

We organise guided visits for young people to artists’ studios which participants find inspiring and informative. Visits can be tailored to the curriculum or around specific topics.     

 

Youth Digital & Media Training

SPACE has extensive experience of delivering digital and media training opportunities for young people aged 14 to 24. We work with schools and NEET youth groups, offering accredited programmes and Arts Awards, level 1 - 3.     

 

Artists Programme

An annual opportunity for Year 10 students to create an installation with an award winning international artist at The Malthouse, part of the Barking Creative Industries Quarter and managed by SPACE.
